MarshallZehr, one of Canada’s largest privately held mortgage brokers and administrators, has hired a new senior vice president of origination and syndication.
Kasey Chauhan, who took up the position on Aug. 6, reports to president Cecil Hayes. His duties involve leading MarshallZehr’s origination and syndication efforts, heading up business-development initiatives and leading client relationships.
Chauhan, based in Toronto, previously worked at Equitable Bank for almost 20 years. At Equitable, he was the head of credit until 2016, when he became vice president and managing director of origination for the company’s commercial finance group.
During his tenure, Chauhan grew annual fundings to $4bn from $700m. In 2023, he assisted as lead for commercial on EQ Bank’s acquisition of ACM Advisors, one of Canada’s largest alternative asset managers.
MarshallZehr was founded during the 2008 global financial crisis. It provides customized land, construction and development financial solutions for high-performing real estate developments for residential, industrial and mixed-use projects.
The company has more than $2bn of current capital commitments. Since inception, it has completed 390 transactions and committed over $4bn of capital.
